The Department of Law promotes and coordinates scientific, theoretical and applied research within the area of Legal Sciences as a whole. The Department, in accordance with the University's strategic plan, has, in recent years, equipped itself with award instruments aimed at encouraging the production of quality research: this affects, in particular, the distribution of research funds and the allocation of research grants. The Department's series of monographs has been aligned with best practices and the selection of publications is based on the rigorous application of the double blind method.

More generally, the Department wants to steer its research activity in two complementary directions: theoretical research, which exploits the opportunities offered by internationalisation and ranks high in terms of dissemination and impact. On the other hand, the Department does not forego the production of ‘applied’ research to also foster a fruitful relationship with the entrepreneurial and industrial realities of the area, one of the most important economic districts in the country.

Interdisciplinarity is encouraged and encouraged, even with disciplinary areas other than law. The Department actively promotes internationalisation through the incoming and outgoing of teachers and researchers, and lastly it promotes participation in competitive research calls and the formation – internally – of working and research groups.
